Carrick Says United Can Restore Ferguson-Era Glory
On the 40th anniversary of Alex Ferguson’s appointment at Manchester United, manager Michael Carrick said the club can return to the heights of Ferguson’s era, but only through realistic rebuilding and consistent performances rather than quick fixes. Carrick, who played under Ferguson, acknowledged that success takes time and that the modern game differs from the one Ferguson entered in 1986. His remarks come as United struggle for form and sit 17th in the Premier League, with Sunday’s match against Aston Villa seen as a crucial test of Carrick’s future. A recent 3-2 win over Roma offered some relief, but midfielder Carlos Baleba is expected to miss several weeks with a hamstring injury.
