Cellectis Exits Two CAR-T Programs, Advances Gene Editing
Cellectis is shifting its focus to in vivo gene editing and will prioritize HEAL-101, a base-editing candidate targeting APOC3 for severe hypertriglyceridemia, and HEAL-201, an epigenetic-editing candidate targeting PCSK9 for severe hypercholesterolemia. Preliminary Phase 1 data are expected in the second half of 2027 for HEAL-101 and the first half of 2028 for HEAL-201. The company will discontinue development of its allogeneic CAR-T candidates lasme-cel and eti-cel, citing a more competitive and contracting market, while continuing existing cell-therapy partnerships. Cellectis said its operating realignment is intended to concentrate resources on the in vivo pipeline and extend its cash runway into the second half of 2028, with investor updates scheduled for September 14.
