Communities Plan Multiple Chili Cook-Off Fundraisers
Chili competitions are drawing attention both as community fundraisers and as a source of culinary bragging rights. A viral discussion among Costco shoppers has praised the warehouse’s prepared Kirkland Signature beef chili as a possible contest contender. Wichita’s Cooking for a Cause pairs chef competition, auctions and entertainment with support for Pando’s programs serving Kansas students, while Charleston’s Charity Chili Cook-Off directs part of each bowl sale to competitors and part to support families with young children. Palm Springs’ Air Museum planned its annual chili tasting alongside a classic-car show to raise funds for museum docents. Another chili-and-salsa cook-off in Lubbock was promoted as a benefit for Children’s Miracle Network.
