Creotech plans 100-satellite single-model capacity by 2029
Polish satellite maker Creotech Instruments plans to open a factory in the Mazowieckie region in 2029, expanding from about 10 satellites of annual capacity at its current Piaseczno site. The new plant is projected to make 40 satellites a year across different models, or up to 100 a year if focused on one model, so the tenfold increase applies only to the single-model scenario. CEO Grzegorz Brona also said the company plans to open subsidiaries in France and Germany and aims to build 500-kilogram satellites by 2032. Creotech’s manufacturing ambitions underscore a broader European challenge: the continent has far fewer launch vehicles than the United States, and Brona expects Europe to rely on U.S. rockets for years even as new European launch programs develop. Creotech does not build rockets and has sought to avoid U.S. technology in its satellites, though SpaceX launched all four of the company’s satellites for Poland’s MikroGlob program.
