Daycare Owner Charged in Toddler-Biting Incident

Jennifer Ann Garrett, owner of Gracious Beginnings Day Care in Hubbard, Texas, was arrested and charged with third-degree felony injury to a child after authorities accused her of forcing one 2-year-old to bite another on the arm during an Aug. 26 playground incident. An arrest affidavit says video showed Garrett restraining one child’s arm, positioning it near another girl’s mouth, and holding the children in place while the bite occurred. Authorities have not disclosed whether the bite broke the child’s skin or the extent of any injury. Garrett has posted bond and could face two to 10 years in prison if convicted; no plea or upcoming court date was reported. The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services is separately investigating the incident.
