Dylan Sprouse called Cole with a family-tree photo after a DNA test looped their lines

Dylan Sprouse was 34 when an ancestry test put identical twins on his father’s side of a chart he never expected to fold back on itself. He had only ever traced that pattern through his mother’s line.
“When I first took it, my actual breakdown of history was very different than it is now,” Dylan said of the test. “I’ve found a lot of family members, weirdly, who I never met, because my dad’s side of the family is pretty fractured. I started to talk to them, compare and contrast.” Both families had lived in California during the Gold Rush and first intermarried in the late 1800s. “And then, they diverged, and then they married again [through] my mom and my dad, like, last generation,” he said.
“I’d only ever thought that identical twins or twins in general came from my mom’s side of the family. We had seven sets of twins in four generations,” Dylan said. Then he learned his father’s uncles were identical twins too, and he started to get suspicious. The twin streak kept appearing, he realized, because it’s the same family!
“A lot of stuff started to make sense,” he said. Dylan joked he does not have webbed toes. He told the story on Wildmen in the episode that aired Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, not long after he and Barbara Palvin announced on Sept. 28, 2026 that they had welcomed their daughter Sylvie.
“I called Cole, I showed him a picture, I was like, ‘Dude, I just found out some f---ing crazy s---,’” Dylan recalled. Cole said “Not looking at that,” closed the image, and hung up.
