Beach Boys cancel four September concerts after health break

The Beach Boys canceled four concerts scheduled for Sept. 24–27, including their planned Sept. 24 return concert at The Big E in West Springfield, Massachusetts, as well as shows in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Big E said the band needed additional time before returning to the stage, while the other venues cited circumstances beyond their control. The cancellations follow a roughly two-month touring break and the postponement of more than 30 dates after frontman Mike Love experienced unspecified health problems; Love has also described recovering from bronchitis and COVID-19 and facing emotional strain. Tickets for the Big E performance will be refunded automatically, and the band has not publicly explained the latest cancellations. The next scheduled performance listed on the band’s website is Oct. 9 in Bloomington, Illinois, but its status remains uncertain.
