Game of Thrones Film Set for June 1, 2029

Warner Bros. has scheduled Game of Thrones: Aegon's Conquest for theaters in 2029, with Deadline Hollywood and most outlets reporting a June 1 release and Bleeding Cool reporting June 6. Owen Harris will direct from a screenplay by Beau Willimon. Harris directed episodes 1, 2, and 5 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1; Willimon created House of Cards and wrote for Star Wars: Andor. The film is expected to cover Aegon I Targaryen's conquest of Westeros with sister-wives Visenya and Rhaenys and dragons Balerion, Vhagar, and Meraxes, from George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood. Casting and official plot details have not been announced. Warner Bros. Discovery earlier included the project in its theatrical slate beyond 2027. Showrunner Condal told Deadline it "will be the biggest season we have made, for sure," adding, "Anything is possible, but I think I have said what I have to say about Westeros." A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 3 is expected in 2028. A Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery merger remains pending and faces antitrust litigation.
