Apple Corps plans vast new Beatles attraction for Liverpool in 2028
Apple Corps announced on October 20, 2026 that it will take over The Beatles Story at Albert Dock in 2027 and relocate it in 2028 to a 100,000-square-foot site at the former St Johns Market, more than four times the current size. St Johns Beacon will become a Yellow Submarine-themed city viewing attraction, available alone or on a combined ticket. The experience will use immersive technology, original artifacts and recreated locations including The Cavern, Abbey Road, Shea Stadium and Savile Row, with sets and props from Sam Mendes' four Beatles films released by Sony worldwide in April 2028. Ticket proceeds will support The Apple Corps Liverpool Trust for emerging Liverpool artists. The development partners Apple Corps, Liverpool City Council and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, with UK government support, and will be Apple Corps' second permanent Beatles experience after a 3 Savile Row London site due at the end of 2027. The St Johns Market Hall has been vacant since the market closed in 2024. Paul McCartney said the plans were extraordinary, that Liverpool is part of who he and The Beatles are, and that he cannot wait for people to step into their story. Ringo Starr said Liverpool was and still is music city, welcomed ticket proceeds for new local artists, and said deep down he is still a Scouser. Steve Rotheram said the Beatles belong to the world but Liverpool will always be home. Andy Burnham said the Beatles are one of the greatest examples of what Britain can give to the world. Sam Mendes commented on filming in Liverpool for the film series. No material factual disputes appear in the record.
