Stevie Wonder Sues Carmen Efferson Over LA Home
Stevie Wonder has sued Carmen Efferson to regain possession of a Los Angeles home where, according to the complaint, she has lived rent-free since 1988 under a verbal agreement. Wonder’s lawyers say they revoked her permission to stay after she refused access for insurance inspectors, jeopardizing coverage, and she did not leave by an Aug. 27 deadline. The lawsuit seeks her eviction, damages and legal fees, including a reported $600 claim tied to the property’s insurance. Court filings describe a tense email exchange in which Efferson objected to the lawyers’ contact and accused one attorney of using a racist, “white male privilege” tone; Wonder’s attorney disputed her characterization. Efferson’s reported past engagement to Wonder has not been clarified by his representatives, and she did not immediately respond to media requests for comment.
