Eight states sue Trump administration over $1.4 billion offshore wind buyouts

The Invenergy and Bluepoint Wind agreements would provide $1.4 billion in taxpayer funds, part of nearly $4 billion pledged nationwide. California AG Rob Bonta and the California Energy Commission filed a separate suit naming Invenergy over a deal they cite as worth up to $765 million. California alleges violations of the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, Administrative Procedure Act, and Judgment Fund Act and calls the settlement label a sham; the administration defends the deals as settlements.
