Five ETFs See Major August Short-Interest Shifts

Short interest fell sharply in August for Brookstone Value Stock ETF, GraniteShares’ leveraged Alibaba ETF, and YieldMax’s Alibaba option-income ETF, declining 68.1%, 60.2%, and 60.7%, respectively, from midmonth levels. By Aug. 31, short interest represented about 0.1% of BAMV shares, 6.5% of BABX shares, and 0.9% of BABO shares, with each ETF showing days-to-cover ratios of 0.2 to 0.3 days. In contrast, short interest increased 205.9% for Brookstone Ultra-Short Bond ETF and 150.5% for Brookstone Growth Stock ETF, though short positions remained a small portion of shares outstanding at 0.4% and 0.1%. The updates also report that the Brookstone ETFs paid quarterly dividends, while the funds’ prices remained near their recent trading ranges, with BABX and BABO substantially below their respective 52-week highs.
