French Probe Scrutinizes Al-Khelaifi Over Ligue 1 Rights

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is facing a preliminary investigation in France over suspected conflicts of interest related to Ligue 1 broadcasting-rights negotiations in 2024. Prosecutors referred the case to the financial anti-corruption police after a complaint from Anticor, which questioned whether Al-Khelaifi’s simultaneous roles as PSG president, beIN Media Group chairman and an LFP board member allowed him to influence the allocation of rights in beIN’s favor. BeIN Sports ultimately obtained rights to broadcast one Ligue 1 match per matchday for the 2024–2029 cycle, while DAZN secured the remaining matches. The investigation does not establish wrongdoing, and Al-Khelaifi’s representatives have denied the allegations, calling the complaint absurd and maintaining that he acted independently and impartially.
