Grand Forks Driver Faces Three Attempted-Murder Counts

Ian Schneeweis of Grand Forks was arrested after police say his car struck two pedestrians, another vehicle and an apartment building entrance before crashing into a tree. The pedestrians suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and Schneeweis faces three counts of attempted murder and additional charges; the allegations have not been proven in court. In a separate Cass County crash, authorities say a 19-year-old driver fleeing a traffic stop at 109 mph in a 55-mph zone turned off his headlights and ran a stop sign, striking a Honda Accord. The Honda’s 49-year-old driver, from Christine, died at the scene, while the BMW driver and his two teenage passengers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Charges in the fatal crash remain under investigation.
