MFN Drug Pricing Deals Expand to 26 Firms

The Trump administration announced new MFN drug pricing deals with nine midsize manufacturers—Alcon, Astellas, BeOne Medicines, BridgeBio, CSL, Kyowa Kirin, Sun Pharma, Teva, and UCB—bringing the total to 26 signatories and covering about 89% of the branded drug market. The nine firms have pledged at least $19.6 billion in U.S. manufacturing investments and to contribute active pharmaceutical ingredients to strategic reserves to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers. Medicaid programs will continue to have access to MFN prices for products from these companies, and the deals extend pricing to new medicines as they enter the market. It remains unclear whether these nine firms will receive the same multiyear tariff exemptions or inclusion in the TrumpRx.gov listing as earlier signatories. The administration frames the moves as part of a broader effort to lower prescription costs ahead of the midterm elections and to promote the TrumpRx platform.
