ISS Astronauts Capture Auroras, City Lights From Orbit

NASA astronaut Anil Menon photographed Central Asia’s city lights beneath a green-and-red aurora from the International Space Station, with the station’s hardware also visible in the orbital view. Separately, astronaut Don Pettit shared a fisheye-lens image of Earth’s auroras that makes the planet appear as a green sphere, with a Soyuz spacecraft in the foreground. Together, the images offer striking perspectives on Earth’s natural light displays and human activity from orbit.
