JCPenney closes Ross Park store, leaves three

JCPenney has closed its Ross Park Mall store in Pittsburgh after nearly 40 years, leaving three locations in the area: Monroeville Mall, Westmoreland Mall and Robinson Town Center. The retailer said it could not continue under the store’s lease terms and was unable to find another suitable location nearby; the store had been the mall’s last original anchor from its 1986 opening. The closure is part of JCPenney’s plan to shutter about 150 underperforming locations through 2026, following years of financial struggles and other store closures. The company says it will continue serving customers through its remaining nearly 650 stores and online.
