Johnson Wins Sixth Champions Event at Pebble Beach

Zach Johnson won the Pure Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach by shooting a final-round 7-under 65, earning his second consecutive PGA Tour Champions title. Johnson finished at 14 under par, two strokes ahead of Henrik Stenson, Steven Alker and Rory Sabbatini. The victory was his sixth in 15 starts during his rookie season on the 50-and-over circuit, breaking his tie with Stewart Cink for the tour’s victory lead. Sabbatini recorded the tournament’s best round with a 63, while Johnson took control with an eagle on the second hole and birdies on the 11th and 13th before closing with a birdie on the 18th. Johnson previously won 12 times on the PGA Tour, including the 2007 Masters and 2015 British Open.
