Jon Bon Jovi Recalls Four-Year Vocal Recovery

Jon Bon Jovi says vocal-cord damage left him unable to sing even “Happy Birthday” after surgery in 2022, followed by a slow, four-year rehabilitation. He said he considered quitting when progress came only “inches” at a time, but stuck with vocal coaching and exercises and refused to tour before he felt he could meet the band’s standards. Bon Jovi now says his voice sounds “phenomenal” and that he can sing without thinking about it. After returning to the stage, including a Madison Square Garden residency and shows in the U.K. and Ireland, the band has announced additional Forever Tour dates.
