Judge narrows Macron suit, lets Owens firms proceed
A Delaware judge dismissed French President Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron’s defamation claims against podcaster Candace Owens personally, finding the court lacked jurisdiction over her because she lives in Tennessee. The lawsuit can proceed for now against two Delaware-registered companies associated with Owens. The Macrons allege that Owens spread false claims, including that Brigitte Macron was born male, to build her platform and profit; Owens has called the suit an extreme legal overreach. The judge has requested further arguments on how French defamation law and filing deadlines apply before deciding whether the claims against the companies can continue.
