Kim Jong Un’s Daughter Seen as Likely Heir, Seoul Says

South Korea’s National Intelligence Service says Kim Ju Ae, the publicly known daughter of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, is being groomed as his likely successor. The agency believes Kim Jong Un has a younger child whose gender is unknown and is still investigating reports that he may have an older son. Even if an older brother exists, the NIS says he is not currently considered positioned to inherit the leadership. North Korea’s secrecy surrounding the ruling family makes the number, ages and birth order of Kim’s children difficult to independently verify, while Kim Ju Ae’s frequent appearances at major military and political events have underscored her rising status.
