North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called for “absolute superiority” in drone technology and urged faster development of military drones and artificial intelligence, saying they are essential to modern warfare. At an exhibition and weapons demonstration, North Korea displayed suicide and multipurpose attack drones and fired drones, cruise missiles and 600mm multiple rocket launchers, according to state media. The event came a day after South Korea reported detecting around a dozen North Korean short-range ballistic missile launches toward the East Sea; Seoul said it was investigating the launches and condemned them as violations of U.N. Security Council resolutions.
