Lavrov arrives for G20 talks in Atlanta despite Ukraine sanctions
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is attending the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting in Atlanta on October 30–31, leading Russia’s delegation. Moscow says he will oppose international sanctions and promote its vision of a multipolar world; Russian officials also reported visa and accreditation difficulties that were resolved shortly before the trip. Lavrov is under international sanctions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and no meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been announced. The gathering comes as Washington, Moscow and Kyiv prepare for further talks aimed at ending the war, including a planned trilateral meeting in November.
