Austin Firefighters Free Trapped Raccoon Unharmed

Austin firefighters rescued a raccoon whose head became lodged in a hollow tree after a neighbor called 911. Crews used ladders and rescue equipment, including a catch pole, to free the animal. Though the raccoon appeared limp as it was lowered, the Austin Firefighters Association said it was alive and unharmed, though exhausted after the ordeal, and was handed over to Animal Control.
