Michkov’s two goals lift Flyers past Avalanche 3-2
Matvei Michkov scored twice and Trevor Zegras added three assists as the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-2, earning a second straight win after opening the season with nine consecutive losses. Noel Acciari scored his first goal as a Flyer, and goalie Joseph Woll stopped 24 shots for his first victory with Philadelphia. Colorado’s Martin Necas and rookie T.J. Hughes scored, but the Avalanche could not find an equalizer after Hughes narrowed the deficit late in the third. The loss was a disappointing result for Colorado against a Flyers team that had entered the night with only one win; Philadelphia also welcomed rookie Cole Knuble for his NHL debut.
