Mint Unveils 2027 Working Dog Coin Designs

The U.S. Mint and America’s VetDogs unveiled the final designs for the 2027 Working Dogs Commemorative Coin Program at a White House ceremony during National Service Dog Month. The three-coin series includes a $5 gold coin honoring therapy dogs, a $1 silver coin recognizing guide and service dogs, and a clad half-dollar commemorating military and law-enforcement K-9s. Authorized by bipartisan legislation signed in 2024, the program will direct surcharges from coin sales to America’s VetDogs, which provides trained guide and service dogs to veterans, service members and first responders with disabilities at no cost. The coins are expected to go on sale in 2027, though the Mint has not announced a specific release date.
