NFL Players Favor Grass as League Sets Surface Standards

The debate has resurfaced after several NFL stadiums temporarily converted to grass for World Cup matches before returning to artificial surfaces. Despite player concerns, artificial turf remains common because it is generally less expensive and easier to maintain, and 16 of the league’s 30 facilities will use grass this season. Players including San Francisco’s Nick Bosa and Indianapolis’ Jonathan Taylor have questioned why owners cannot prioritize grass and player safety when temporary conversions have been possible.
