NHTSA Closes Investigation Into 129,092 Honda Ridgelines

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has closed its investigation into rearview-camera failures in 129,092 Honda Ridgeline pickups that were recalled in 2022, determining that no further action was warranted. The agency began reviewing the issue in 2024 and escalated it to an engineering analysis in February 2025 after reports that wire harnesses had failed in vehicles repaired under the recall. Owner surveys, vehicle inspections and durability testing found no camera failures caused by damage to the repaired harnesses, and NHTSA said the component was not expected to fail during a reasonable vehicle lifespan. Most complaints involved other camera or wiring-harness failure modes that could not be linked to the durability concern under investigation.
