Nine of the 12 people aboard a pedal tavern were injured Thursday night when a Toyota RAV4 rear-ended it on Demonbreun Street in downtown Nashville, police said. At least two passengers suffered serious injuries; six were taken to a hospital, where one was in critical condition and five were stable. The RAV4 driver told police he was distracted, though authorities have not said what diverted his attention. Neither the RAV4 driver nor the pedal tavern operator was injured, and the crash remains under investigation.

The investigation should check if the car driver was on a phone since that keeps happening downtown.

Those pedal taverns move slow on busy streets so drivers need to stay focused instead of rear ending them.
