Nurse's Overtime Goal Lifts Sharks Past Blues 3-2
Darnell Nurse scored 1:03 into overtime to give the San Jose Sharks a 3-2 road win over the St. Louis Blues on Thursday at Enterprise Center. Nurse buried a backdoor pass from Ivar Stenberg at the nearside post for his first goal with the Sharks after San Jose acquired him from the Edmonton Oilers on July 1. Tyler Toffoli tied the game in the second by burying his own rebound, and Collin Graf tied it in the third after Sam Dickinson's centering pass deflected off Adam Jiricek. Dillon Dube scored shorthanded for St. Louis, keeping possession on a 2-on-1 and beating Alex Nedeljkovic high glove side for his first NHL goal since Nov. 16, 2023. Connor McMichael also scored for the Blues. San Jose improved to 3-1-0 with six points and third place in the Pacific; every win this season has come in overtime. St. Louis fell to 1-2-1 and seventh in the Central on its third straight loss after a season-opening 4-0 win over Dallas. Captain Macklin Celebrini missed a second straight game with a lower-body injury after the Sharks were shut out 5-0 by Dallas on Monday. CONTESTED: none found in record.
