Oregon Sex Offender Charged in Minnesota School Enrollment Attempt
Makayla Craig, a 29-year-old registered sex offender from Oregon, is accused of posing as a homeless 17-year-old named Molly Fox to submit enrollment paperwork at Maple Grove High School in Minnesota. School staff alerted police after becoming suspicious; authorities say Craig was arrested and charged with three felony forgery counts, but never completed enrollment or attended classes on campus or online. Police say Craig told investigators they wanted to attend school after becoming sober and had previously tried to enroll at a high school in Oregon under a different teenage identity, an incident that resulted in a conviction and jail sentence. Craig has also been convicted of sexual offenses and other crimes, according to court records cited in reports. A judge set bail at $200,000 without conditions or $100,000 with conditions, including restrictions on contact with minors and proximity to schools; Craig’s defense disputed prosecutors’ claim that Craig had no ties to Minnesota.
