FBI Searches Beverly Hills Mansion in Swalwell Probe
FBI agents executed a sealed search warrant Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, at a Beverly Hills mansion reported to belong to billionaire donor Stephen Cloobeck in a matter involving former Rep. Eric Swalwell. Swalwell resigned from Congress and quit the California governor's race in April 2026 after sexual misconduct allegations, including rape. In August the FBI seized his devices at San Francisco International Airport and searched his Washington, D.C. home the next day. The New York Post reported Cloobeck spent more than $1 million supporting Swalwell and that Swalwell recorded a denial video at the mansion. CNN sources tied the search to the Swalwell investigation and a donor's home; Fox's Matt Finn said agents were at what is believed to be Cloobeck's mansion. NBC Los Angeles said it was not immediately clear whether the warrant related to Swalwell or to Cloobeck's April felony witness-dissuasion charges involving fiancée Adva Lavie. Lonna Drewes held a news conference saying Swalwell raped and choked her until she lost consciousness. Cloobeck said, according to the Post, he is no longer associated with a man that takes advantage of women. Swalwell has denied wrongdoing. LA County's sex crimes unit is still weighing charges. Authorities have not detailed what was sought.
