Louisiana Parish Election Results Include Runoffs
Louisiana voters on Nov. 3, 2026, decided parish races that included school board contests in St. Tammany, St. John the Baptist, Tangipahoa and St. Mary parishes; the Plaquemines Parish president and council races; and Orleans Parish judicial races and local measures. Brad Cascio won the 21st Judicial District attorney race, defeating Sherman Mack and carrying Livingston, Tangipahoa and St. Helena parishes. In Tangipahoa Parish, Pat Farris led the Hammond city marshal race but did not win a majority, setting up a Dec. 12 runoff against Becky Jackson, while Lance Traylor won a school board seat; St. Mary Parish school board winners included Calyn Swords Welch and Jameson “Budd” Sennette, who won outright. In Jefferson Parish, three school board incumbents won reelection, Rachel Spears won an open seat, and District 5 will be decided in a runoff, leaving the newly elected members to address school consolidation, transportation and staff retention. St. Tammany voters also chose a sheriff after Randy Smith stepped down following a guilty plea in an assault case; four candidates competed for the post. The St. Tammany school board election followed the arrests of two former Lyon Elementary principals for failing to report child abuse, including allegations of physical and sexual abuse.
