Poll Finds 40-Point Partisan Patriotism Gap
A Gallup and With Honor survey found a sharp partisan divide over which values the country most needs: 46% of Republicans named patriotism among their top choices, compared with 6% of Democrats, who more often prioritized equality and fairness. Across respondents, honesty, responsibility and integrity ranked highest overall, while independents’ selections generally fell between the parties’. At the same time, 79% said respecting different values matters more than sharing the same ones, and 76% believed at least one value is shared across political lines, most commonly freedom. Commentary on the findings noted that no single value was seen as shared by a majority and argued that low confidence in honesty and integrity may point to broader concerns about social trust.
