Poll Finds Fireplaces, Beams Top Stylish Home Features

Research suggests homeowners favor original architectural features such as fireplaces, exposed beams and cornicing, along with layered lighting, plants and antiques, over viral décor choices that may feel less appealing in practice. Most respondents said a home looks better when it reflects its occupants rather than simply following trends, though many wanted more confidence in making design choices. Separately, fall 2026 interiors are leaning toward richer colors such as chocolate, plum and moss green, natural textures, layered fabrics and warm lighting, with fireplaces serving as a focal point for seasonal styling. Both reports emphasize personal, thoughtfully layered spaces over rigidly coordinated looks.
