Possible tornado damages Heber-Overgaard, injures one

A possible tornado swept through Heber-Overgaard in northeastern Arizona Wednesday evening, causing considerable damage, downing power poles and damaging homes and trees. At least one person was reported injured, and crews are assessing the damage while some Navopache Electric Cooperative customers remain without power; no restoration estimate was available. Residents described a brief burst of violent wind and flying debris, and authorities urged people to avoid a section of State Route 260 near the Overgaard Airpark. State Rep. Walt Blackman called for a state emergency declaration, though Navajo County would need to request one from the governor.
