Postal Worker Indicted Over Alleged 30,000-Piece Mail Dump

A federal grand jury has indicted Armond Paige, 54, a former St. Louis postal worker, on allegations that he discarded at least 30,000 pieces of mail in vacant lots between 2024 and April 29, 2026, rather than delivering them. Paige, who worked from the Maryville Gardens Post Office, pleaded not guilty in federal court. He faces up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both if convicted. Prosecutors have not alleged that election ballots were among the discarded mail or identified a political motive. The case comes amid broader scrutiny of mail delays in the St. Louis area, including a reported backlog of more than 2.5 million pieces at a local distribution center, though it is unclear whether previously discovered piles of abandoned mail were connected to Paige.
