Seahawks’ Darnold Returns to Practice, Status Unclear

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is scheduled to return to practice Wednesday as he continues recovering from the glute injury that sidelined him after the season opener. Coach Mike Macdonald said Darnold will be limited initially and ramp up during the week, with a decision on his availability for Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders expected before the weekend. The Seahawks are 2-0 with Drew Lock starting in Darnold’s absence, and Lock has completed 35 of 48 passes for 422 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. Seattle has little need to rush Darnold back after Lock led a 31-7 win over Arizona, but Darnold’s practice workload will help determine whether he can return in Week 3.
