Six migrants die in Lesvos boat-Coast Guard collision
Six migrants, including an infant, died when a speedboat carrying people from Turkey collided with a Greek Coast Guard vessel off Lesvos and capsized. Rescuers saved eight others, who were taken to hospital; authorities said no one remained missing. A 37-year-old Turkish survivor was arrested on suspicion of operating the boat and smuggling migrants. The circumstances of the collision are under investigation, while Greece’s shipping minister blamed smugglers and vowed zero tolerance for trafficking.
