SoftBank reportedly weighs $30 billion Allied Universal deal
SoftBank is in preliminary talks to acquire Allied Universal in a deal that could approach $30 billion including debt, Bloomberg reported. Allied Universal equity could be valued at about $18 billion, with roughly $12 billion in debt. No final decision on price or structure has been made. Allied Universal is the largest private security company in the United States. It holds Metropolitan Transportation Authority contracts to secure New York City's subway system and provides intelligence analysis, canine units, bomb technicians, cleaning, janitorial and facility maintenance, plus data center construction and operations support. SoftBank declined to comment on the report, and Allied Universal did not immediately respond. SoftBank stock fell after the report surfaced. In October, SoftBank completed the final phase of its planned $30 billion investment in OpenAI. SoftBank was an early investor in Alibaba Group. Contested: none found in the record. Talks remain preliminary, with price and structure unresolved.
