South Korea Plans Smart-Glass Prosecutions, Three-Year Retake Ban
South Korea plans to seek criminal charges against students caught cheating on university entrance exams with smart glasses and extend the period they are barred from retaking the test from one year to three. The stricter rules are expected to take effect next year, as officials say there is not enough time to change the law before the upcoming exam. The education ministry also plans to assign staff at each exam center to check for suspicious eyewear, following cases involving students wearing or possessing smart glasses during university exams in Seoul. The measures reflect growing concerns that camera-equipped, AI-enabled glasses can facilitate cheating as the devices become more widespread.
