Sabres Sign Ostlund to Eight-Year Extension

The Buffalo Sabres signed 22-year-old forward Noah Ostlund to an eight-year, $52.8 million extension carrying an average annual value of $6.6 million beginning in 2027-28. Ostlund recorded 11 goals and 27 points in 60 games during his rookie NHL season, adding two points in three playoff appearances. Selected 16th overall in the 2022 draft, he is projected to become a top-two-line center or winger and is viewed as a key part of Buffalo’s young core. The Sabres are betting on his playmaking, defensive awareness and continued development, although his strength and faceoff performance remain areas for improvement. Buffalo finalized the agreement before a new collective bargaining agreement takes effect that limits extensions with a player’s own team to seven years.
