Coaches Fight and Players Clash at Multiple Football Games

Several high school and college football games were marked by confrontations before or during play. At Clemson, players from Clemson and North Carolina exchanged heated words near midfield before kickoff, but coaches and officials intervened before punches were thrown. In New York, players fought during the Palmyra-Macedon and Clyde-Savannah varsity game; both districts said they were reviewing the incident with law enforcement and Section V officials, and no one was hospitalized. In Louisiana, Oberlin’s homecoming game against Centerville was canceled at halftime after head coach Robert Etheridge and assistant coach Jaden Brasseaux allegedly fought in the locker room following an argument, with reports also describing involvement by other Oberlin personnel. Centerville led 36-6, and Allen Parish Superintendent Brad Soileau called the incident unacceptable and promised a full investigation and accountability.
