Yankees reportedly plan Boone return in 2027
The Yankees will bring Aaron Boone back for a 10th season in 2027, the final guaranteed year of his contract, despite renewed questions about his future after New York was swept by the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL Division Series. Boone has a 790-565 record and has led the team to the playoffs in eight of his nine seasons, but the Yankees have not won a World Series during his tenure; their only appearance was a loss to the Dodgers in 2024. The 2026 team finished with the American League’s second-best record despite lengthy injury absences among key players, including Aaron Judge, though its postseason performance intensified scrutiny of Boone. Owner Hal Steinbrenner is reported to have no desire to make a managerial change, while general manager Brian Cashman is also expected to remain, leaving Boone under pressure to turn regular-season success into a championship.
