NBA Names Kalshi, Polymarket Preferred Exchanges
The NBA named Kalshi and Polymarket its preferred prediction-market exchanges, formalizing partnerships that allow them to use official league data and branding. The agreements give the league influence over which markets are offered and establish safeguards, including information-sharing on suspicious trading, cooperation in investigations, and restrictions on league and team personnel trading on NBA events. The NBA also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to coordinate on market and game integrity, expanded its DraftKings partnership to include prediction markets, and plans to extend offerings through some other existing sportsbook partnerships. The move comes amid ongoing legal disputes between states and the CFTC over authority to regulate prediction markets, and the NFL has urged the Supreme Court to weigh in.
