PWHL raises minimum salary from $38,000 to $42,000 this season
The PWHL and its players’ union agreed to expand active rosters from 23 to 24 players and raise minimum salaries beyond the 3% annual increases set in their collective bargaining agreement. Minimum pay will rise from about $38,000 last season to $42,000 this season, then increase in stages to $52,500 by 2030-31; the new minimums also apply to existing contracts below those levels. Reserve-player positions will be eliminated, with options including one-game standard contracts. Expansion to 12 teams and larger rosters will add 104 active roster spots compared with last season. The PWHL’s fourth season begins Dec. 5, with training camps opening Nov. 18.
