Baker, Bochy, Maddon among eight on Hall of Fame ballot

Ted Turner, Bruce Bochy, Dusty Baker, Joe Maddon, Lou Piniella, Sandy Alderson, Brian Sabean and Bill White are on the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Contemporary Era ballot, which covers managers, executives and umpires whose contributions came primarily from 1980 onward. A 16-member committee will consider the candidates at its Dec. 6 meeting in San Diego; election requires at least 12 votes, or 75%. Bochy won four World Series titles, while Turner is recognized for owning the Braves and pioneering sports broadcasting; other candidates include championship-winning managers and executives. Anyone elected will join the Class of 2027 and be inducted on July 25.
