Manchester United draws 4-4 with Aston Villa after twice trailing by two goals

Manchester United came back twice from two goals down to draw 4-4 with Aston Villa at Old Trafford, after conceding twice in the opening four minutes and falling 4-2 behind early in the second half. Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty and Youri Tielemans equalised before halftime, while John McGinn and Leon Goretzka scored for Villa. Joshua Zirkzee and Patrick Dorgu scored in stoppage time to secure the point; Villa protested a possible foul on their goalkeeper before Dorgu’s equaliser. The draw leaves United 18th in the Premier League with eight points from 10 games, and manager Michael Carrick’s future remains uncertain as the team heads into the international break. Carrick praised United’s fight but said their repeated defensive mistakes needed to be corrected; United’s next league match is away to Liverpool.
