Report Says Spotify Targeting Early 2027 for Paid AI Remix Tool
Spotify is reportedly targeting the first quarter of 2027 for a paid AI tool that would let subscribers create new versions of participating artists’ songs, such as changing a track’s genre or imagining a different artist performing it. The service could be unveiled around the Grammy Awards and may cost an additional $4 to $5 a month, though Spotify has not confirmed the plans and timing and pricing remain unsettled. Artists would need to opt in, and Spotify’s proposed model would share remix royalties with original artists while counting remix plays toward the original songs’ chart totals. Spotify has licensing agreements with Universal Music Group, Merlin, Kobalt and Believe, and is reportedly still negotiating with Sony Music and Warner Music.
