State Museum Shifts Programs to Harrisburg Library During Renovations

The State Museum of Pennsylvania is partnering with the Dauphin County Library System to offer monthly hands-on history, art and natural-science programs while the museum undergoes renovations. Sessions will be held at the George & Hettie Love Memorial Library in Harrisburg, begin at noon, last about 45 minutes and primarily serve children from pre-kindergarten through second grade. Fall topics include daily life in Revolutionary Pennsylvania, William Penn-era traditions, the Eastern wild turkey and Pennsylvania’s state tree, the Eastern hemlock. Advance registration is required or encouraged, and the museum is expected to remain closed until early 2029 during a renovation project estimated at $79.3 million.
